Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) (2026-02-17)

Chinese New Year 2026 begins on February 17, marking the Year of the Horse. The 7-day official holiday runs February 17–23. Factory and business closures typically extend much longer.

Book 3 months in advance for flights and hotels. Train tickets (chūngyùn) sell out within minutes of release.

Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day) (2026-04-05)

Qingming 2026 falls on April 5. A 3-day weekend including adjacent weekend days is typical.

Spring travel season begins. Good weather in most of central and southern China.

Labour Day (2026-05-01)

Labour Day Golden Week runs May 1–5 in 2026. A major domestic travel period.
