Chinese meetings often involve a large delegation. The most senior person may say very little — do not mistake quietness for disinterest. Real decision-making often happens outside the formal meeting.

Dos ✅

• Arrive early or on time — punctuality is respected
• Greet the most senior person first
• Bring printed materials (Chinese translation preferred)
• Allow silences — they are comfortable and do not need to be filled
• Confirm next steps explicitly at the end

Don'ts ❌

• Don't address senior people by first name without invitation
• Don't challenge or publicly disagree with a senior person
• Don't use humour in initial meetings — it may not land
• Don't assume silence means agreement
• Don't rush to the point — build rapport first
